I was volunteering today at the local church run thrift store, and one of the older volunteers pulled a visitors book out of a pile of stuff to be priced.  She mentioned how she had one just like it in her home. This sweet, unassuming woman had done alot of entertaining over the years, and although she didn’t ask her guests to sign the book, she would enter their information after they left. It was kind of a journal, that her kids could look back on over the years, and remember who had dropped by.

She said they had one famous visitor drop by for dinner, and when her children asked her about it, she looked through her book refresh her memory on the visit – and this was the ONLY one she had not written down!

I asked her who was the visitor – and she shyly said, “You probably wouldn’t know him- have you ever heard of The Dalai Lama?” -!

Oh, my gosh – I asked her how the Dalai Lama came to be at her house! Apparently, she and her husband were affiliated with a local college years ago, and after a speech, the Dalai Lama was invited back to the house for a meal! She said he was very nice!

It’s a small world!

Dalai Lama:

Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible.

In practice of tolerance, one’s enemy is the best teacher.

Open your arms to change, but don’t let go of your values.
